The Finer Values of Creative Concerns

Anthony Poldervaart

Anthony Poldervaart is a big fan of makerspaces: non-profit, community-operated organisations that provide space, knowledge and tools for making things. Anyone with a creative urge can knock on the door, ask for help and use the machines at a very low price. This stimulates local self-production, collaboration and networking, yet many makerspaces are struggling to survive. Nine months of thorough investigation reveals the main problem: they fail to market themselves successfully. To boost exposure, Anthony offers the workspaces an attractive and easy-to-advertise CNC milling workshop program: Toys for Toddlers. Those who give it a try, might very well return for another visit.
