Graduation project
The Six-Winged Chicken
Anne Kamps
“Six-winged chickens are as real as buckets full of chicken wings.”
What: The Six-Winged Chicken and Other Mythical Animals from the Food Industry uses the format of a children’s book to describe a mythical world of animals that can be found today.
Why: This project is rooted in the stories and the challenges created by globalised food production. It attempts to explore the myths and share the mysteries that create personal belief and collective doubt.
How: With reference to the Middle Ages when people told stories about mythical animals like unicorns, this almanac of mythical animals of the food industry presents a world in which the
six-winged chicken and the spineless pig are as real as the superior dairy cow and the cut-price chicken.
