ULTIMUM DELICIAE

Anne-Julie Vignaux

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has made us revalue our human interactions. Locked in our homes, mostly dependent on digital communication, we understood how much human warmth is a primal need. Anne-Julie Vignaux then asked herself: What if the self-sanitising properties of copper could restore social bonding? Could this material, when used in wearables, emphasise the value of intimacy? ‘ULTIMUM DELICIAE’ (ultimate luxury) attempts to bring luxury back to the essential: health and mutual care. This series of garments knits together copper metal yarns with copper-infused organic yarns. Merged together in different densities, the resulting patterns reflect different levels of sanitisation. The most intense hues follow where human interaction is the most cherished.
