In Your Time
The commodification of time increasingly affects its subjective experience, pushing individual rhythms, both human and non-human, to mutate in order to meet an incessant demand for efficiency. In Your Time investigates the industrial bread-making process, observing how the rhythm of yeast is forced to adapt to the needs of mass production. The project stages a cinematic experience altered in real-time by the carbon dioxide output of living yeast, identifying the disregard for idle time driven by restlessness, and endless productivity and consumption. This micro-organism’s chemical and biological processes are transposed into the film’s flow, which explores rest as a universal act of political potential connecting the multiplicity of the world.
