This lecture examines the potential scenarios developed by Céline Park, exploring critical and speculative design as key tools to address societal issues. It emphasises the use of artistic voices and rituals, delving into her reflections on the project process and the rationale behind her choices.
Céline Park is a designer, curator, and director renowned for her speculative investigations into cultural and societal constructs. She expands design boundaries by creating dystopian scenarios with utopian aesthetics, blending diverse periods, utilizing multiple design and art tools, and collaborating with experts across various fields. Deeply involved in professional and educational initiatives from Seoul to Europe, her work has advanced speculative design discourse while nurturing innovative initiatives and fostering collaborations.
Growing up in France, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Céline gained an international perspective on her practice. Beyond the institutions she operates, her work has been showcased at internationally renowned venues such as the V&A Museum in London, Centre Culture Coréen in Paris, and the Busan International Short Film Festival. She also serves on the jury for The France Film Festival in Jeju.
With a diverse background in graphic design, film, photography, and fine art, Céline crafts speculative scenarios that probe social hierarchies and individual experiences. Her projects encourage audiences to question cultural assumptions and uncover hidden narratives. She regularly shares her insights through lectures at universities and museums across Europe and Korea.
