Patricia Reed

Department Head

Patricia Reed is a theorist, artist, and designer based in Berlin. She has been theory tutor at The Critical Inquiry Lab since 2019, and Co-Head of department since 2022. Her work addresses social transformations of coexistence at planetary dimensions, focusing on the interactions between world-models and practices of inhabitation. Recent writings have been published in Space Synthesis, AI Realities, Ceremony: Burial of an Undead World, The Unmanned, Glass Bead Journal, The New Normal, Construction Site for Possible Worlds, e-flux Journal and e-flux Architecture.

Reed is an affiliate researcher of the Antikythera program (Los Angeles), and Area Lead in Design, Technology and Materialization for the School of Materialist Studies. She co-wrote the Xenofeminist Manifesto as Laboria Cuboniks which was republished by Verso in 2018, with subsequent books in Greek, Korean, French and Spanish. A compilation volume of Reed’s works will be released by Holobionte Ediciones (Spanish) in 2024. She is currently working on a monograph as an Agent of Change from the IABR entitled “Figuring Planetary Space”.

Reed has lectured and delivered seminars internationally, including at HKW (Berlin), Sci-Arc (LA), Museo Tamayo (Mexico), Digital Earth (online), Garage Contemporary Art (Moscow), Goethe Institute (Seoul), Okayama Triennale (Japan), Konstfack (Stockholm), Goldsmiths (London), Sandberg Institute (Amsterdam), Aalto University (Helsinki), HEAD (Geneva), Simon Fraser University (Vancouver), Global Art Forum (Dubai), Gertrude Contemporary (Melbourne), The New Museum (New York).
