DAE will stay in Eindhoven

Eindhoven 20 June 2024 – Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) will remain in Eindhoven. This decision was taken yesterday by DAE’s Executive Board and Supervisory Board. “We are very happy to have finally made this decision after a careful and considered analysis of all options” says Joseph Grima, chair of the Executive Board.

“We can now provide certainty to our students, educational and organisational staff, and the Eindhoven design ecosystem that we will stay in the city. We have always expressed our preference for Eindhoven, due to our long-standing history in the city and its established ecosystem of design. We are therefore pleased with the municipality’s strong commitment to helping us remain here,” he added.

With this decision, moving to Roermond is no longer being considered. “We found Roermond’s proposal of exceptional merit and professionalism. It was considered in the most serious terms. We commend Roermond for its incredible ambition and vision, and we would like to thank them for all their hard work in this process,” said Grima.

Final location not known yet

The final location in Eindhoven has not yet been determined, and further analysis of several options is underway.

“The remaining options in Eindhoven meet our requirements. The situation regarding future student accommodation is positive. And we are also optimistic about strengthening the design ecosystem. We experience a positive attitude from stakeholders and the province. We look forward to further developing and securing agreements. As a leading international design school, we would like to work together with the entire field to shape the D of Design in the Brainport Eindhoven region,” said Raf De Keninck, member of the Executive Board.

A final decision on the location is expected soon.
