DAE welcomes new members to the Supervisory Board
Meta Knol comes from a wealth of experiences in being supervisory and executive board members in both cultural domain and in science. Amongst many other things, she was the director of De Lakenhal in Leiden. She already began her role at the Academy from 1 March and will succeed Dick Rijken as Chair of SB starting 14 June. Knol is using the intermediate time to gain a deeper understanding of the Academy’s education and organisation.
Steven Jongejan also served as board members within various higher education setting, many in the art sectors. He is also an experienced SB member and will join the SB Audit Committee. Jongejan is appointed on the recommendation of the Institutional Participation Council (IPC) and a representative of the IPC took part in the selection process. Jongejan has also began her role on 1 March.
The SB is a legally required, independently appointed supervisory body for the Academy. The Supervisory Board appoints the members of the Executive Board (EB), and approves the budget and the annual statement of accounts. In addition, the SB oversees the standards of the Academy’s management and the education it offers. The SB also acts as a sounding board for the EB. The SB members can serve for a maximum of eight years.
The two outgoing SP members are Paul Depla and Paul Scholte. Depla decided to step back as vice-chair and focus on his role as the Mayor of the city of Breda amongst other auxiliary positions. Scholte will depart as SB member by the end of April. Scholte has been SB member for eight years and was previously a member of the SB Audit Committee.
DAE would like to express our gratitude Depla and Scholte for their efforts and dedication. And a warm welcome to Knol and Jongejan.
