Como llegar: How To Arrive

Invited to work in a venue in Madrid, Ana de Fontecha Hidalgo embarked on a research process of arriving at the place from a distance, from Eindhoven. The research resulted in a collection of personal stories about previous incarnations of the space, coinciding with various phases of urban development. A recreation of the space as a speaker — a resonance chamber — of the vanished stories was developed. From the outside, all that is seen is an exhibition device presenting fragments and failures of the processes commonly used to recreate a space in an exhibition. The project speaks of the repeated exclusions enacted by processes of gentrification and institutional mediation.
