Body.Processing

Alvin Arthur

WHAT
Choreographed body movements and gestures that enable people to program and code together with others.

WHY
Programming is a skill that is increasingly required in the working world, but the only people who seem capable of doing it are those who can sit staring at a screen for hours. It is a physically lonely and static task. Alvin Arthur makes it a collaborative and active task.

HOW
Using the ‘Processing’ software and Labanotation principles, Alvin devised a way to code through ‘Body. Processing’, a language that merges choreographic gestures and sensor technology. It involves the whole body, not just the fingers on a keyboard.

QUOTE
Coding with ‘Body.Processing’ requires physical imagination and expression from the dancer-programmer.
