A Road to Reflection: An Examination of Zionist Settlements, Where Do They Take Us?
A Road to Reflection is a historical research and critical analysis which examines the development of Zionist settlements and mirrors the changing attitudes towards Palestinians. The project analyses how the settlements reflect on changing historical contexts and socio-political relationships through the lens of architectural urban planning and spatial design. This research focuses specifically on three unique types of settlements characterising the Zionist movement: Moshava, Kibbutz and West Bank settlements. Taking the impact of specific historical events into consideration, the project reveals a shift in perception of Palestinians by different factions within the Zionist movement: from living side by side, through indifference to animosity.
