Listening as a spatial practice of resistance
We understand listening as a critical practice, an active practice that develops and increases awareness. Listening is a starting point for relationship processes and a starting point for conversations, for oneself and with others. What can listening to other people’s stories do to us? How can we bring a spatial and collective moment into listening? Can listening become a collective spatial practice?
About the speaker
Fem_Arc is a Berlin-based collective of architects and artists working on projects from an intersectional feminist angle. Since 2018, we have been critically examining power structures in space and the intersection of individual experiences of discrimination due to gender, race, economic status, ability, queerness, religion and others. In formats such as workshops, a podcast series, participatory audio walks, film and multimedia installations, we propagate planning and artistic strategies that question norms and standards in architecture and contribute to the creation of non-discriminatory spaces.
