Lawrence Abu Hamdan

400 Billion Dollars of Air
Lawrence Abu Hamdan will present the multiple outcomes of his large scale research project Airpressure.info the only searchable and interactive documentation of Israeli military aircraft operating in Lebanese airspace that inflict indiscriminate mass surveillance and noise pollution on millions of people. Here, Abu Hamdan employs the ‘atmospheric’ to think through the ways in which violence is made manifest, reading Lebanon’s air as a high pressure nexus in a global weather system. This lecture will act both as a presentation of his research as well as an exploration into the strategies by which we can sensitise publics to the data and research uncovered by aesthetic practitioners.
