The Scene of Inscription
"The Scene of Inscription is a performative act that challenges hegemonic understandings of sexuality and subjectivity by modifying the psychoanalytical strategies that enable them. The performance plays on the multiple meanings of the word ‘body’—whether physical, institutional or legal—using this ambiguity to connect humans and objects in ways that disrupt normative constructs of gender and identity.
During the performance, each performer wears specially designed clothing that serves as an interface. The garments allow for the addition of various elements to the performer, creating a new landscape that extends and redefines the body’s boundaries. Through this transformation, the performance critiques and subverts the political and economic systems of control that shape our understanding of gender and identity. "
