Unfolding the Blanket

Zoa Lu Rosenkranz

The blanket — an object we spend half our lives with — has become disconnected from its owner, how it’s made or used. It is therefore easily discarded. With ‘Unfolding the Blanket’, a collection of redesigned duvets, Zoa Lu Rosenkranz reveals the possibilities of textile construction. She sees a future where we're mindful of the lifecycle of the object, its long-term use, and the relationship we have with materials. The blankets invite you to interact with them and understand how they are made by offering access to their anatomy. Zoa highlights various aspects of the textile industry, such as downs as a natural and resistant filling material and knitting as a zero-waste production technique.
