(Portraits of my) Holocene Holiday

Mixed-reality performance art about intimacy in times of environmental collapse, made with a custom-developed production system.
(Portraits of my) Holocene Holiday' is a notation and production system for mixed-reality performance art. It records and documents elements such as physical, virtual and hybrid props, physical and motion-capture performers, as well as lighting and sound. With this workflow, performers, visual artists, sound designers, and digital animators can work together throughout the creative process to create multidimensional performances that seamlessly blend various artistic elements. An iterative application of the developed workflow informed the creative development of a cinematic series, in collaboration with performance artist and art director Charlotte Gillian. Focusing on human intimacy in a time of environmental collapse, several interactable virtual environments provided a playing field for performers to experiment within. By capturing the movements of actors and translating them into real-time digital representations, this research project enables artists to interact with fantastical elements.
