The Ideological 1
Yunwei Cen
The Chinese one-child policy, which for 35 years limited the number of children a family could have, was one of the world’s most extreme birth control schemes. Yunwei Cen is part of the ‘one-child generation’. What legacy has this created in Cen’s personality and relationship with her surroundings? And what does it mean for Chinese society that so many families have been reduced to a maximum of three people?
'The Ideological 1' reveals the background of the policy and aims to demonstrate how it has silently affected all aspects of life: official and personal. It is the hidden connection that holds this society together, without being noticed.
