The Birth of Elvis Wesley
The opening scene of this surreal animation shows a man driving home through a grim setting. Tired of his drab life, he decides to escape into a parallel universe. A virtual-reality mask propels him into another cosmos with exploding colours and morphing materials. It may look as if designer Wesley de Boer created every object in the film by hand, but they are all made with a virtual claying technique, offering an interesting peek into the endless possibilities of this 3D modelling software. ‘The Birth of Elvis Wesley’ is the first episode of an eccentric film series. The project presents a new form language in animation design as an inspiration for fashion designers and brands.
