"Contemporary Italian tourist destinations offer an overload of culinary possibilities, from saturated candy shops to authentic family-driven trattorias, all united in one mission: proclaiming that what they sell is the best, the most traditional, the most colourful, or the most beautiful. And if they resist these superlatives, tourists and locals are all the quicker in labelling it the most authentic. What happens when substance is fully exchanged for appearance?

Surplus-Taste is a multichannel video installation that guides you through a spiral of emotions. Like in a media store, where screens compete to present the best version of the same image, you may even forget what you were originally looking for. A few essential elements are varied, with colour and sound effects winking at cooking shows, theatre and circuses, aiming to enhance everything that supports you pleasure… of which you just can’t get enough."
