Why Make, II. Machine Learning, Learning Machine
Victor Miklos Andersen
## “I’m still learning how to communicate with them, while they’re learning to communicate with me.”
Think of it as a design studio with five members – and Victor Miklos Andersen is the only human. A collaboration between man and software, ‘Why Make, II.’ is an experimental process where they practise working together while learning to find a common language. Andersen sits at a potter’s wheel sculpting clay with four devices suspended around him, each running a different AI program. As he sculpts, his algorithmic collaborators offer inspiration, feedback and suggestions in the form of continual image feeds. The resulting sculpture is documented and fed back into the digital realm, building up a shared style. An aesthetic reflection of the time we’re in, this project explores the effect that emerging technologies have upon us.
