Notes Between Lines
Valeria Fabiano
Radio is a basic technology that, by creating a disembodied voice, allows us to hear and speak with people who are far away. Valeria Fabiano researched how the way the electromagnetic spectrum of radio frequencies is ordered and allocated — across technologies such as satellite and radio, and usage such as talking and broadcasting — reflects the way space is commodified by economic and political factors. The resulting radio show asks: How do increasingly invisible modern infrastructures impact the rights of access to natural planetary resources? How do commercialised systems such as 5G, which rely on the same wireless communication principles, impact the access to radio?
