AURORA
Light itself can be considered as a material in its own right, creating an exciting spectacle when it passes through or shines on different surfaces. With this in mind, Tristan Guyot explored ways to celebrate this untapped potential through an intuitive design process. Working in metal, he looked at different surface treatments such as anodising aluminium, adding patina to brass and polishing steel to create a colourful range of finishes. In addition to this, he experimented with how light travels through glass depending on its thickness, opacity or presence of air bubbles, creating three dimensional textures in a translucent material. The culmination of these experiments is a series of unique objects, where light can be fully appreciated in all its forms.
