Fragmented Lustre

Tim Van Der Loo

Tim van der Loo’s ‘Fragmented Lustre’ is a sculptural light and decorative wall piece. Its top layer is a very thin brass sheet with a photo-etched geometrical pattern, making the metal flexible − almost like fabric. It expands where pressure is applied, creating a flowing landscape. By day, sunlight moves across this irregular surface and casts its reflection in different directions as the rays hit the volumes and refract from different angles. At night the light mounted behind the top sheet gives off its ambient glow, peeping through the pattern.
