What: The story of good versus evil, taken from two very different contexts − fantasy films and the Bible − and brought together in a single video installation. Why:Sylke van der Heiden grew up within the strict religious community of the Reformed Liberated Church. Fanatsy films that show a world unlike the one that God created, were considered sinful and dangerous, with their portrayal of evil forces rising up against the good. Yet the battle against evil also lies at the heart of Sylke’s religion. How: By mixing fragments of fantasy films and Bible passages, Sylke seeks a way to navigate her conflicting feelings towards the church in a visual way that others can also understand.
