The Hȳd

Sjoerd Ebberink

Pieces of leather that have any marks (scars, burns, holes) are thrown out by the industry. With The Hȳd, however, Sjoerd Ebberink shows these irregularities on purpose. “They tell a story and also often have beautiful lines: organic, tight and straight.” To bring out the history of the skins more clearly, he treats them in various ways and then cuts them into pieces. “Now the skins can be combined into a fragmented image.” Attached to a special backing, The Hȳd can be used as a wall drapery. Depending on the treatment, this provides an interior with a chic or with a natural look. Ebberink showcases the wide range of possibilities in a sample book.
