Dorveille

Sixtine Blandin

“It’s about creating a moment to step back and be yourself”

What: A series of objects designed for midnight periods of wakefulness. Why: Ever tried going to bed early and waking up in the middle of the night before settling down for a second round of sleep until morning? This was the norm in pre-industrial times. Inspired by this two-shift sleeping pattern, Sixtine Blandin discovered a new world of conscious downtime, opening space for thought and creativity. How: Aiming to alter current sleeping habits, ‘Dorveille’ includes a journal for jotting down nightly musings, a warm, duvet-style wrap, a glass of water and a clock that makes time appear to go more slowly. Together they make the most of those precious nocturnal hours.
