Who Are the Villains?
Sascha Lammerts’ two-faced fairy tale book uses the ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ tale to better understand the cultural conflict in ‘the eternal battle of the sexes’. The book considers the distrust developing from the simultaneous rise of the fourth wave of feminism and the online community of incels (involuntary celibates), mainly heterosexual men who lack sexual relationships. While some of these men turned to mass shootings, not all incels are violent killers, Sascha found out. As traditional fairy tales show, every character can do good or bad things at any point in the story. Through the art of bookbinding, Sascha created a two-sided book that transforms a faceless threat into a human being with its own backstory and psychological motivations.
