Cloud Cover' explores how industries and companies use metaphors to obfuscate our relationship with technology, focusing specifically on The Cloud. The assumption is that this metaphor was introduced to help us understand The Cloud’s complexity, but it actually achieves the opposite – language is used to disguise complicated systems of data collection for surveillance capitalism. The story of The Cloud is one of the exploitation of people, land, laws, and language. 'Cloud Cover' attempts to physically reveal how this metaphor functions exactly as intended, hiding this controversial infrastructure behind a cloud of unknowing.
