Quatre Couleurs

Riwan Coëffic

## “By turning my drawings into objects, I wanted to relate my sensibility for daily shapes to the human body.”

Riwan Coëffic finds inspiration in the shapes and volumes of his daily environment. The frame of an A6 sheet of paper allows him to confront and merge architectural elements and geological forms into one standardised medium. In his drawings the fine ballpoint pen hatching gives volume and texture to the colourful monoliths. In this project, Riwan converts these nonscaled compositions into the physical world by using another frame: physically tangible and functional furniture. The graphic qualities of the illustrations and the satisfaction of the process are translated into the realm of product design by scaling up and stretching the drawings into sturdy volumes and converting the vibrant colours into large gradients.
