I've Thought About It Again

Raphael Stodden

An installation featuring AI-generated family memories draws attention to AI companies’ violation of privacy and use of personal data.

Based on a collection of recorded memories from his grandfather and a family photo album, Raphael Stodden used accessible AI tools to expand his family archive. Through an installation featuring photo slides and an interview with his grandfather, the project intentionally blurs the distinction between real and fake. Adopting a naive approach to AI in a domestic context, it highlights the alarming ease with which this widely available technology can be misused. This ethical ambiguity underscores the pressing need for public awareness regarding how AI companies are claiming to prioritize technology for the common good, while disregarding the violation of privacy through the unauthorized use of privately captured data.
