Templated Thinking

Rachel Morón

From websites to memes, the template is a controversial design object. Looking at the template as a speculative object that relies on the user for its completion, 'Templated Thinking' questions what it means to create and use something that is made to be repeated by others. Opening up the template’s possibilities, Rachel Morón explores its consequences for concepts such as authorship and authenticity and asks how we can relate through it. At times, its scope may appear all-encompassing. An unintended consequence of this research, and perhaps its real aim, is to highlight how we engage with our templated and networked society at an everyday level.
