→ What is the deadline for pre-master applications?

→ What are the qualification requirements?
The minimum requirement is an on-going or completed course at Bachelor level or higher. Preferably in design, design history, curatorial studies or an equivalent discipline. Applicants with a BA in art, architecture, art history, or the humanities, with a demonstrable affinity with design are also welcome to apply.
→ What do I need to apply?
When applying, you’ll be requested to supply a portfolio and a motivational letter.
→ What (material) costs can I expect to incur during the course?
Some basic materials required for the course will be provided during the lessons and are included in the course fee. The course fee does not include costs for the participants individual research projects, such as for materials, tools or printing.
→ Can pre-master participants access DAE outside of the classes on Saturday?
No, pre-master participants can only access DAE on Saturdays from 10:00 - 16:00.
→ Can the pre-master participants use DAE’s workshops?
No, pre-master participants unfortunately cannot use the workshops at DAE, as most of them are closed on Saturday’s and additionally need special insurance. However, there will be moments in which the digital workshop can be used in order to print and to rent cameras.
→ Is the pre-master a mandatory requirement for admissions to the MA departments?
No, it is not a prerequisite but may help your chances of admission. You can read about the general master’s admission requirements here.
→ Will I automatically be accepted to the DAE Master’s programme?
Completion of the course does increase your chances of admission, and pre-master tutors may be consulted during the admission process. However, completion of the pre-master does not automatically lead to admission to the DAE Masters department and does not bestow any rights.
→ Can I apply for a student grant for the pre-master?
Participants are not formally enrolled as students and therefore do not receive a student grant, but they do receive a student card and an electronic key for access to the DAE building.
→ What is the cancellation deadline?
Cancellation is possible only in writing up to one week before the start of the course; in case of later cancellation or cancellation during the course, the full course fee remains payable.
→ How will I receive my official confirmation?
Receipt of payment counts as definitive confirmation of registration, whereupon places can be assigned, so it can be determined whether the course can take place. With too many applications, a selection will be made based on fit to the aims of the programme. When too few people apply, the program cannot take place. You will receive an official confirmation if you can join in the first week of September.
