AFTERLIFE

Most clothing is worn and loved for a short period of time. It is discarded long before it is worn out. ‘AFTERLIFE’ is a collection of garments, solely created out of existing clothing pieces. The shape and materiality of these pieces dictate the final designs. Straightforward cuts show that sewing can be approachable and playful, bringing young people back to the craft of sewing. Oscar Wentz takes the lead by offering a selection of premade repurposed garments. Instructions on how to make them yourself are published on an open source website. You can remake your clothing at home or during workshops. Oscar invites you to have fun with the garments that are already there, rather than consuming anew.
