Flux

Onno Adriaanse

Is it a lamp or a work of art? Actually FLUX is a bit of both. Inspired by huge kinetic light installations, Onno Adriaanse designed a series that fits a living room, restaurant or hotel lobby. When you switch on the light, gears start turning and bring these wondrous creations to life. Two perforated plates in front of a light source engage in a slow dance, creating mesmerising patterns on the wall. As the plates rotate, the moiré effect keeps changing. “I’m fascinated by the emotional impact of light,” says Adriaanse, whose aim is to intrigue people. And indeed, once the projection starts, it’s hard to look away.
