Graduation project
Angeli’s delight
Nathan Raccah (and Ward Lauwers)
A series of workshops use a custom-built low-tech kitchen to facilitate a collective reflection on how much we rely on industrial systems.
Our food is not only an assemblage of ingredients, but the product of technologies past and present. Nathan Raccah and Ward Lauwers built a kitchen workspace and a series of scaled down industrial technologies. They host weekly collaborative cooking and catering events using a growing collection of self-made, partly autonomous machines, such as a salvaged electronic-powered fridge and a simplified induction stove. The machines explore aspects of our reliance on industrial systems and our emotional connection to them through their construction and use. Insights are discussed and documented in a collection of books. 'Angeli' embodies an attitude and a lifestyle of curiosity. It studies the massive infrastructures responsible for every dish and explores more meaningful and sustainable ways of sharing and being together.
