Time Fragment

Mick Thörig

Mick Thörig is an obsessive collector. Looking at his possessions calms him down, but does not diminish the urge to acquire more. Besides material things, his list of must-haves includes fleeting moments. But how do you capture those? ‘Time Fragment’ manages to seize the mesmerising blooming season of the Japanese Cherry Blossom Tree, which in real life lasts only two weeks. During the day this mirrored column reflects all the collected items in the room. When evening falls, a smart light source gradually reveals its insides: a cherry blossom branch that magically multiplies into a private blossom festival for its gluttonous owner.
