An experimental TV show highlights the importance of building a community that puts playfulness and entertainment at its core.
What we learned about entertaining ourselves during the pandemic was quickly forgotten afterwards when playfulness came second again to the hustle and bustle of daily life. So, Meryem Akbaba and Klara Branting Paulsell decided to make a space for serious play, fuelled by laughter, improv, and engagement. ‘Future Number Five’ (FN5) is an experimental TV show made with the belief that it is vital that we use time and energy not only on work but on building a community that knows how to enjoy itself. That’s why they produce the show in the tiny FN5 studio with anyone around who wants to be a part of it and once each episode is made they screen it to a live audience.
