Gain Access: Bottom-Up Participation
Matteo Proietti
A methodology with daring guidelines was developed to encourage people to connect with others and break free from social norms.
How can you discover more about yourself and about how you connect with people, places and institutions? And how can you break free from systems that prevent you from moving forward? Matteo Proietti identified twelve simple guidelines that have served him well. What about: ‘Step out of your door and find a need to fulfil within one kilometre’. Or: ‘Enter a community hub to which you have just gained access. Don’t ask, just search for a task you can most easily do and do it’. Matteo approached a day activity centre for refugees in Eindhoven and tackled some issues by applying his guidelines. A video shows the experience and encourages others to also use this bottom-up methodology to open new doors.
