The Spatial Archive of Warfare
The prevalence of modern hardware and software gives rise to a new form of capturing spaces that have been affected by war, extending the two-dimensionality of images and videos. Via photogrammetry, visual footage of events can be rendered into digital 3D environments preserving spatial information. The Spatial Archive of Warfare is an open-source geospatial platform for people to upload 3D scans of spaces that have been destroyed. It facilitates visual investigation and evidence construction in court, supports narration and reader experiences in a journalistic context, contributes to trauma therapy, and preserves a spatial record of events for other future forms of analysis and use yet to be envisioned.
