"Dissatisfied with superficial online interactions, Luana Soto Aguerrevere explored the potential of digital platforms for families of the Venezuelan diaspora. She developed a methodology of care, involving family interviews to extract stories of a displaced community. These stories are transformed into temporary material artifacts, such as portrait drawings, and then digitized again to be given as a gift.
Through a circular action, she aims to foster deeper connections. By creating an illustrated version of each family interview, the project extracts the intimate and unique essence of each person, challenging the isolating nature of digital spaces. Ultimately, it proposes alternative uses of digital platforms to facilitate spaces for genuine communion and acts of love, preserving and nurturing family bonds across great distances."
