“What tool can we use to boost our democratic voice?”

What: A radio programme recorded on the city streets to help reclaim the public space by inviting us to voice our opinions. Why: From microphones hidden in our cities, intelligent systems are recording and analysing people’s behaviour as a security measure. They undermine our democratic rights, believes Louise Gholam. How: Louise Gholam was inspired by the souks of the Middle East and the role of their public storytellers in translating word on the street into a topical narrative. In the same vein, this radio programme is a platform for public dialogue and a way to take back control. In broadcasting our responses to the situation, we can empower ourselves.
