To allow anyone to experience the joy of making music, even those with no musical background, no time to master a new skill, or talent, Lola Gielen has devised ‘Neo’. Simply place marbles on the dimples in the base unit and Neo loops over these to produce notes, much like the arrangement of pins on a barrel organ. It is a digital instrument sensitive to the player’s touch. There are external sensory modules to influence the sound or tempo, or to create their own sounds. Perfect pitch, rhythm, years of practice? Not necessary: just play.
