Mirror Stage
Mirror Stage comprises a series of wooden sculptures inspired by carnival games and theatre standees. Instead of the typically humorous images, the silhouettes are taken from moments of conflict sourced from real-life events and art history. A person can place themselves in either the role of victim or aggressor. Assuming a role in the dynamic evokes self-reflection. Even people not directly participating play an active role, whether as idle bystanders, by taking photos, or even walking away. The series of silhouettes together form a system of self-reflection exploring how roles of power and struggle have become integral to personal identity.
