Footwear therapy

Léa Simon

Shoes offer many obvious physical benefits to the wearer. Yet footwear has far more to do with expression and emotion than mere function. Heels can make you feel powerful and confident, while sneakers can make you feel agile and laid back. Utilizing this idea, Léa Simon designed a pair of shoes to invoke a new emotional experience in the wearer. The shape of the shoe creates a slight balancing movement that changes the way you walk. Your walking becomes rhythmical as your attention turns towards the steps you take. The upper is made of wool to give heat and comfort like a thick sock. Combined, the shoes invite you to go outside and mindfully wander as they provide feelings of calmness and serenity.
