(O)
When looking up at the stars, we look back in time. Looking down at the ground, we snap back to the present. Laura Staģīte asks: “How should we see in the future to look at the moments passed as if they were stars of the present?” Change over time crystallises in physical form, like a fingerprint of what once was. Creation thus becomes the materialisation of human interaction with life. (O) is an ongoing study into the nature of creation, using porcelain as a visual language. The work shown introduces the described sensibility in slipcasting, a ceramic technique where a cast is filled with liquid clay to create series of objects. This results in strong yet fragile shapes with intricate planet-like textures: the mo(ve)ments of their creation solidified.
