Krijg de Klere

Lara van der Poel

Krijg de Klere is a social streetwear brand that connects Eindhoven's homeless community with street culture. As a volunteer at the clothing exchange of 't Hemeltje, a drop-in centre for the city's homeless, Lara van der Poel came up with the idea of personalising the otherwise anonymous donated clothing. By handing out disposable cameras to the centre's guests, the designer built relationships and connected with local skaters as she combined the homeless people's personal images with their illustrative responses to create streetwear. By encouraging participants to express themselves creatively, the project combats stigma and provides a platform for personal narratives. It fosters unique connections between street dwellers, street art and streetwear, and draws attention to life on the streets.
