Just A Scarf

Kris Vleugels

Is it a Muslim hijab? A Surinam angisa? A Jewish tichel? Or a Berber tagelmust? Headscarves are easily associated with religion, but can be so many other things: a shelter from wind or rain, a fashion statement, or a traditional garment. Kris Vleugels wants to break free from the endless discussion about meaning. She designed three scarves without any reference to culture or religion. A neutral grid with solid folding lines and a non-symbolical pattern of circles and squares suggests various models – each with its own look and feel. Start folding and find out what a simple scarf can do for you.
