About A Worker

Kim Hou has created an installation of a clothes factory to raise awareness of the balance of power in the fashion industry. A seductive world when viewed from the point of view of the consumer, with lush magazine ads and luxury products, but also a domain that relies on the hard graft of thousands of workers who are vastly undervalued. ‘About a Worker’ aims to elevate their status to that of true 21st-century craftsmen and designers. Kim Hou hopes this insight will inspire fashion elites to create new production systems, and in their turn, influence consumers’ attitudes. It is time for a global discussion on improving the lives of the workers trapped in this system.
