Light of Two
Khaula Aqila
# “This lamp offers a more visual and poetic way of experiencing time difference between two individuals.”
Technology allows us to instantly connect with people on the other side of the world from the comfort of our home. We can sit under the afternoon sky and interact with someone lying under a night-time sky. Khaula Aqila wanted to harness technology to express this human connection. Her ‘Light of Two’ brings together two people by combining the lighting conditions at their respective locations to create a lamp that emits a combined light colour. An app displays this colour according to the geographical coordinates of the two places and time of day. Dusk and noon create a purplish light, whereas sunset and night create a muted orange light. The circular lamp is available in two versions: wall-mounted and table-top.
