(Un)Timed
Julian Descamps
“In the summer – when the sea is like a mirror and you have the orange midnight sun - you don’t want to go to bed. You want to stay up,” says one of Sommarøy’s many fishermen in Julian Descamps’s short documentary ‘(Un)Timed’. Inhabitants of the Norwegian island of Sommarøy want to stop living by the clock and create a more organic relationship with time by declaring themselves a ‘time-free zone’. The concept of time seems more fluid on the island, less restrictive and in tune with with nature. Through various discussions with locals, Julian explores the connection between time and happiness.
